"Sokol KV-2" spacesuits of main crew members of "Soyuz MS-19"

Purpose:
An emergency rescue spacesuit that along with on-board systems ensures a crew member’s life and performance in case of depressurization of descent module during the most dangerous flight stages (launch, docking, undocking and descent).

Spacesuit weight: approximately 10,5 kg with the helmet, boots, headset and gloves. Radio communication is carried out through a headset equipped with two headphones and two microphones.
The pressurization of the spacesuit, breathing and cooling of a cosmonaut in a depressurized object is provided by supplying oxygen to the helmet (or a gas mixture containing 40 % oxygen and 60 % nitrogen).

The genuine spacesuits were made for the main crew members of "Soyuz MS-19" mission actress Yulia Peresild and film director Klim Shipenko. The spacesuits are being used during flight to the ISS and in the filming of the feature film "The Challenge".

On October 5, 2021, at 11:55:02 Moscow time, a successful launch of the Soyuz-2.1LV with Soyuz MS-19 transport manned spacecraft was carried out from launchside No. 6 of launch pad No. 31 (Vostok) of the Baikonur Cosmodrome as part of the scientific and educational project "Challenge". The flight of the “Astreev” manned spacecraft (crew call sign) took place according to the so-called fastest flight scheme, which allowed it to reach the International Space Station in 3 hours and 17 minutes after launch.

“The Challenge“ is a joint scientific and educational project within the framework of which the first movie has been shot in orbit. The project includes selection, preparation and implementation of the flight of the two spaceflight participants to the International Space Station; preparation of the two backup cosmonauts; preparation and certification of the filmmaking equipment, its delivery to the ISS as well as creation of a number of audiovisual works, including a series of documentaries about the perspective tasks of the Russian cosmonautics; release of a series of TV programs about the selection of the spaceflight participants and their preparation for the flight; release of a full-length feature film "The Challenge”.
- October 5, 2021, the Soyuz MS-19 spacecraft with the Movie crew docked to the ISS (Rassvet module). During the flight, the Soyuz MS-19 crew members were wearing SOKOL KV-2 spacesuits.
- During 12 days onboard the ISS (the Russian segment), the Movie crew members were shooting the first feature film in space with the invaluable assistance from the Russian cosmonauts. The movie shows a female doctor who due to dramatic circumstances is forced to get prepared for the spaceflight in a month’s time and fly to the ISS to solve an important tasks set by State Space Corporation Roscosmos. The feature film "The Challenge“ is scheduled for release on April 12, 2023.

The director of one of the highest-grossing Russian films in Russia and the CIS, the film "Serf.

The spacesuits are used in space and in perfect condition now. It may be used as museum exhibits or in a private collection,
as props for filming and for other purposes.
